Edwin Dale Davenport, 83, of Granbury, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2020. Graveside service: 9:30 AM, Thursday, July 23, 2020, Acton Cemetery, Viewing: 10:00 AM -7:00 PM, Wednesday, July 22, 2020, Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury. (Social distancing and masks required)
Edwin was born on December 5, 1936 in Red Oak, Texas to Samuel and Susie Davenport. He proudly served in the United States Marines. He worked as a security officer for Comanche Peak for 21 years, as a security guard at Happy Hills Farm for many years and for grounds maintenance at Pecan Plantation.
Edwin married Martha Alice Glenn on July 3, 1954 in Cleburne, Texas. He always said to Martha “I love you more than life itself.” He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Edwin was a member of the Lake Granbury Christian Temple and of the Shepherds Chapter of the Christian Motorcyclists Association. He loved camping, and he enjoyed watching Gunsmoke, Bonanza and western movies. He loved eating and one of his favorite restaurants was Pams Too.
Edwin was preceded in death by two sons: Larry Glen Davenport, and Thomas “Tommy” Davenport, grandson: Robert Wildt, and great-granddaughter: Adalynn Bennett.
Edwin is survived by his loving wife of 66 years: Martha Davenport, children: Madonna Andrews and her husband Rickey, Jeffrey Lewis Davenport and his wife Devora, Charles Alan Davenport, and Lisa Norman and her husband Kelly, 11 grandchildren and many, many great-grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews, and his extended family, Tommie and Alta Thornton.
