Eileen Rowe Condike

Eileen Rowe Condike of Granbury, Texas died peacefully on Saturday, January 9, 2016, two days shy of her 96th birthday.
Memorial service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 15, 2016, at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Chapel
Inurnment: Holly Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.

Eileen was born on January 11, 1920 in Bridgewater, Massachusetts to Harry and Rose A. (Whalley) Rowe. She married George F. Condike on January 2, 1941 in Bridgewater, Massachusetts.
Eileen graduated from Bridgewater State College (now University) with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and later earned a Master of Arts degree in education from Fitchburg State College (now University). She taught elementary school for many years in Fitchburg, Massachusetts before retiring in 1975.
She and her husband George lived in New York, California, and Pennsylvania before settling in Massachusetts in 1947 to raise their family. Eileen and George moved to Granbury in 2006. Eileen enjoyed organized dancing (square, round, and ballroom), reading mysteries, playing Scrabble, and completing crossword puzzles. She was a lifetime member of the Fitchburg Women’s Club, and an accomplished seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Rose Rowe; brother Earl P. Rowe; and sister Rose E. Nicolas.
She is survived by her husband of 75 years, George F. Condike; sister Harriette and Arnold Almquist of Needham Heights, MA; daughter Brenda R. DiPietro of Columbus, OH; son Brian J. and Mary Lou Condike of Granbury, TX; grandson Thomas M. Waid of Columbus OH; granddaughter Meridith B. Young of Barre, MA; grandson Curtis W. Condike of Petersham, MA; great granddaughter Emily R. Young of Barre, MA, great granddaughter Ava G. Condike of Irvine, CA, and many nieces and nephews.
