Ellen Ann Thatcher was called home to our Lord at the young age of 74 on March 5, 2021.
She was born June 27, 1946 in Wynne, Arkansas to Samuel Odis Proctor and Hazel Thielke Proctor.
She ended up in Texas and graduated from Castleberry High School in 1964.
She spent many of her years working for the Azle Independent School District and retired at Eagle Heights Elementary. She loved those kids so much and they loved her too, sometimes she could be spotted giving away a chocolate milk or dessert to her favorites. Ellen loved God and was an avid member at Northwest Church of Christ, the congregation was her second family.
Above all, her favorite times were those spent with family, hosting big holiday gatherings and chasing the young ones to give them big kisses. She would switch off telling each of us we were her favorites behind each other’s backs. Truth is, she was ours.
Ellen saw the good in every person she met and always had a smile.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Darrell Wayne Proctor and Michael Lynn Proctor.
Survivors include her husband, Chris Thatcher; daughter, Denise and husband, Darren Gillespie; son, Stephen Brewer; son, Christopher Thatcher and wife, Rebecca; brother, John L Proctor and wife, Debbe; brother, Terry Purdom; brother, Randy Proctor and wife, Robin. Grandchildren, who called her Mammie, include Devin Simkins, Chaz Brewer, Adara and husband, Jacob Kelley, Kade Brewer, Ryan Thatcher, Jadyn Gillespie, Taryn Gillespie, Savannah Thatcher and Mason Brewer. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
