On December 7, 1946, she was born in Fordyce, AR, to Elmer Wood and Lena Mae Jeffreys.
She was better known in her life as either PeeWee or Honee to those who knew and loved her. She was known for her sassy, outgoing personality and her willingness to help in pretty much any situation (playing nurse, babysitting, doing hair for numerous musicals and plays, moving furniture, the list goes on), her absolute talent as a hairdresser, and her Love of the Lord. Anyone who sat in her hair chair most likely received a dose of Honee correction and love! She mentored several young people into careers in the cosmetology field, seeming to have an ability to spot talent.
A long-time member of Eagle Mountain International Church, she was passionate about God’s word and made sure to teach any time God gave her a moment.
She loved people, but she also loved animals. She and her Friend Bev started rescuing animals from the beginning of their lifelong friendship. She rescued stray cats in
later years and fostered them to new homes. She lived a life of love.
Her greatest love was her Poppy, kids, her five grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. It was a great honor and privilege to be a grandchild of Honee Nowlin.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Billy Wayne Nowlin (Poppy) of Hot Springs, Village, AR; her son, Billy Lance Nowlin and wife, Dayan of Houston, TX; her daughter, Tonya Malena Krasnoff and husband, Murray of Clermont, FL; sisters Lyndia Medley of Anchorage, AK and Betty Mercer of Citronelle, AL; 5 Grandchildren, Alexandra of Orlando, FL, Allena (Ryan) of Rogers, AR, Zachary of Norman, OK, Madison of Houston, TX, Emma of Houston, TX; one great-grandchild, Finley of Rogers, AR; and numerous nieces and nephews.
