Emilio was born August 11, 1930 in Winters, Texas to Epifanio and Juanita Govea.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose M. Govea.

 
Survivors include his children, Alfredo Govea, Felipe Govea, Emilio Govea Jr., Enrique Govea, Blanca Richard, Rosie Perez, Raul Govea, Epifanio Govea, Helen Frausto, and Aurora Jayme; brothers, Juan Govea, Lupe Govea, Luis Govea, Epifanio Govea, and Domingo Govea; sister, Anita Garcia; and thirty-two grandchildren and forty-three great-grandchildren.
