I met Dayla in the summer of 1969 after Mike and I had started dating and Jerome and I were still close friends. The relationships confused her for a bit. She owned a fabulous sense of humor that I am sure saw her through rough times and whenever she was visiting Columbus, all of her waking moments were dedicated to helping our shared mother in law, Gladys Pate. I can still hear her remaking "Oh Eddie" in response to something Edward said (I named him "Mr. Personality" early in our association). We were fortunate to have enjoyed their generous hospitality on several occasions at their home in Texas and still laugh about offering their boys a tomato sandwich while they were guests in our home. Godspeed Dayla. May you rest In peace knowing that you completed your earthly job.

That big smile of Dayla will be missed. She was a great Lady. May she rest in her sleep - John 5:28 & 29

I will always remember Dayla's laugh and her funny way she would say "those stupid idiots". She kept me and Patrick in line whenever we were together at the Pate house. She kept the house in order while Eddie was away in Alaska. My deepest condolences to the family.
