Ernest Randolph “Ranny” Torrence passed away September 28, 2012.
Celebration of Life: 11 a.m. Thursday at the Patoka United Methodist Church, Patoka, IL. Burial: Patoka Cemetery.

Ranny was born May 8, 1940 in Patoka, IL to Paul Randolph Torrence, Jr. & Lora Ellen (Paine) Torrence.
He married Peggy A. Green on April 3, 1958 in Cornith, MS. and she survives in Fort Worth, TX and Patoka, IL.
Mr. Torrence grew up in Patoka, IL area and started working with CB&Q Railroad which later became BNSF Railway Company where he spent his entire career before retiring in 2002. During his railroad career he made friends from Centralia, IL to St. Louis, MO to Denver, CO to Fargo, N.D. to Fort Worth, TX.
He loved spending his time with family & friends playing while working on the family farm in Patoka and playing pinochle with family & gin rummy with legion buddies and traveling the U.S. and watching sports of baseball, football & basketball and deer, quail & mushroom hunting.
He was preceded in death by his father Paul and mother Lora and brother Terry N. Torrence.
Ranny is survived his wife Peggy; children, Kelsey & husband Bob Larson of Bluford, IL, Susan D. Torrence of Lincoln, NE, Gregory Torrence& wife Susan M. of Centennial, CO, and Richard Torrence & wife Janette of Patoka, IL; sisters Paula Padberg & husband Jim of Patoka, IL and Nina Ostrom-Bliss of Greenville, IL; sister-in-law Pat Torrence of Patoka, IL; brother Bob Green & wife Edna of Rockton, IL; four grandchildren and three step-grandchildren: Amanda Larson-Ford & husband James of Crisfield, MD, Rob Torrence of Parker, CO, Caleb Larson & wife Lynn of Colorado Springs, CO, Stefanie Larson-Montgomery & husband Tyler of Vandalia, IL, & Julia Ciebiera of San Francisco, CA, Eric Ciebiera of Denver, CO, and Dylan Adams, of Patoka, IL.; and five great grandchildren-Landon Ford, Austin Ford, Ashton Torrence, Kellen Torrence, and Lucy Montgomery; He was also anticipating the upcoming births of Baby Larson-due 11/2012 & Baby Montgomery -due in February 2013. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews that held a special place in his life and heart.
