DECORDOVA — Ernest Wayne Hunt, 77, passed away Friday, May 4, 2012 in Granbury.
Service: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wiley Funeral Home. Burial: Acton Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Ernest was born June 21, 1934 in Abilene to J.C. and Tessie Cullen Hunt. He married Betty Kay Creech on Feb. 20, 1954 in Ennis. Ernest attended schools in Abilene, Fort Worth and Ennis, graduating from Ennis High School in 1953. He then moved to Dallas where he began his career in transportation which lasted 44 years. He was a member of the Transportation Club of Fort Worth and was President in 1980-1981. Ernest was named Transportation Man of the Year in 1981. He retired from Builders Transport in 1998. He attended ASC and SMU.
In 1995, Ernest and Betty Kay moved to DeCordova, a place he truly loved. He was an avid golfer, member and past president of the MGA. He also spent time fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors: Wife, Betty Kay Hunt of deCordova; son, David Hunt of Cedar Park; daughter, Kristi Ashcraft of Dallas; grandchildren, Jeff and wife, Abbey Hunt, Justin Hunt, Easton Hunt, Mindi Walls, Holli Daniels and Jenni Daniels; great-grandchildren, Lexi Thomas, Kaydence Thomas and Brazos Thomas; brother, Jerry and wife, Zelma Hunt; sisters, Norma Nash and Judy Ward of Fort Worth; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
