Ethel Bernice Mellen Dieckmann, 86, passed away on Friday; August 7, 2020 in her home in Granbury.
She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 17, 1934 to Frank and Edith Mellen.
Ethel was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Granbury since 1986.
She was a Volunteer at People Helping People for 34 years, Food For Children Program in Granbury, the Catholic Charities Organization, Granbury Women’s Shelter, the After School Program, the Crochet Club, the Quilting Club and the Relief Society Group at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Ethel was also a longtime member of the New Comers Bridge and a member of multiple bowling leagues.
Ethel is survived by her seven children, Daniel Betts, Iris Barratt, Gary Betts, Janet Price, Terry Dieckmann, Paul Dieckmann, Sherry McCleskey and by one Angel on earth, Anthony McCleskey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ethel Mellen, her husband, Herbert Dieckmann and by two brothers, Frank Mellen and Fred Mellen.
Our Mother dedicated her life in service. She lived a life of compassion and service. She set the highest example for all who knew her. To her family, church and community. She was a social butterfly. She always lived her life to the fullest. Mom enjoyed bowling, cards, the casino and the Temple. She walked this earth side by side with our Heavenly Father now she walks with him.
A Celebration of Life for Ethel will be held at 12 noon Saturday; August 15, 2020 at Wiley Funeral Home Chapel in Granbury.
