Eugene was born March 2, 1935 in Batson, Texas to Eugene and Gladys Guedry. He graduated from John H. Reagan Senior High School in Houston in 1953. November 8, 1954 he joined the Air Force and served a 4-year term. He later married the love of his life, the late Wanda Lee Brewster and together they had two children, Thomas Eugene, Jr. and Teri Lee.
He was an electrical engineer and worked at Texas Instruments for 38 years where he retired. During his time at Texas Instruments, he built guided missiles. Gene was given an award for his “Outstanding contributions and twenty-eight years of dedicated service to the Harm Missile Program for the United States Navy and Air Force”.
Eugene enjoyed spending time with and caring for his family. He was the ultimate caregiver! His favorite thing was spending time with his grandchildren. He also loved fishing, talking on the CB and Ham radio, gardening, working in the garage and maintaining their house and cars, as well as visiting with friends at the Waffle House and Denny’s. He enjoyed attending athletic events for both of his children, especially Tommy’s football games, which gave him rights to brag on his beloved son.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Wanda Lee; his parents, Eugene Curtis, Sr. and Gladys; his son, Thomas Eugene; his sister, Mary McCreight and her husband, AW McCreight; his brother-in-law, Raymond Hobbs and his sister-in-law, Ann Farris.
Eugene is survived by his daughter, Teri Lee Guedry of Fort Worth; granddaughter, Rachael Annalee; grandsons, Jerasin Wells and Taylor Lofgren; great-grandsons, Thomas William and Joseph Henry Rodriguez; sister, Dorothy Hobbs; brother, John Guedry and wife, Terrie Baye; first wife to Thomas Eugene, Shellie Palmore and second wife to Thomas Eugene, Polly Wells; and many nieces and nephews.
