GRANBURY — Eugene “Gene” Dawson, 91, passed away May 19, 2014, in Fort Worth.
Funeral: 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2014, at Wiley Funeral Home. Burial: Acton Cemetery in Acton, Texas. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Gene was born in Oklahoma, Feb. 21, 1923, to the late Elmer D. Dawson and Leona May-Dawson. He was a loving son, brother husband, father and grandfather. Gene attended TCU, served in the U.S. Navy as a signalman 2nd Class during World War Two, and retired from Lockheed Martin. He was married to the girl next door, Imogene Reynolds-Dawson, for 68 years. To guarantee his family would visit often, he built their home on Granbury Lake.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ray L. Dawson, sister, Leona Bernice McLellan, and great grandson, David H. Dawson.
Survivors: Wife, Imogene; sons, Errol & Roy Dawson; daughter, Merlene Dawson; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Bunn Butler, Sr.; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren with one on the way; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
