JOSHUA — Florence “Granny” McClain Gilbert, 80, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2012 in Joshua. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Tuesday in Acton Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury. Memorials: Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Florence was born June 3, 1932 in Spokane, Wash. to Clyde LeRoy and Evelyn Claire Woonacott Snyder. She married John Jay McClain on Aug. 3, 1953 in Waco. He passed away Aug. 29, 1991. She married C.D. Gilbert on April 17, 1992 in Granbury. She was a nurse’s aide and a member of Joshua Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands; step-son, William David McClain; son, Robert Lee Parker; sister, Lenah J. Harrison and grandson, Scott Ferguson.
Survivors: Sons, John and wife, Miley McClain of Garrison, Clyde McClain of Crowley, Billy Ray Elkins of Lorena and Cecil Briley; daughters, Regenia and husband, Terry Hankins of Joshua, Sherry and husband, David Hodges of Granbury, Mary and husband, Thomas Crelia of Waco; daughter-in-law, Eunice Parker of Splendora; step-daughters, Nancy Adams of Clay City, Ky. and Mary Leach of Mt. Sterling, Ky.; sister, Charlotte M. Corley of Garrison; half-sisters, Mary Kelly of Oregon and Judy Howard of Clarkston, Wash.; half-brothers, Sonny Snyder and Dennis Snyder of Eugene, Ore.; 26 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and additional family members.
