Florene “Rosie” Splawn Wade departed this life Friday, November 6, 2015, and is now resting in the arms of her Lord and basking in the love of the many family members and friends who have made this journey before her.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Biggers Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in Boyd Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Honorariums in her name may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association or Gentiva Hospice Care.
Florene was born in Wise County on April 24, 1923. She worked as a riveter during World War II and earned the nickname “Rosie” due to the popular song of that era. She married Jack Lewis Wade in Galveston in 1955 and enjoyed 40 years of marriage before his death in 2005. Florene retired from General Dynamics after more than 40 years of service. She was a faithful member of Lake Worth Assembly of God since the 1960s.

She is survived by her son, Robert “Butch” Lewis Wade of Lake Worth; daughter, Cindi Wade Mitchell and her husband, Clark Mitchell, of Torrance, California; grandchildren, Daniel Lee Wade and Rachel Ann Wade of Lake Worth and Austin Keith Mitchell and Alayna Rose Mitchell of Torrance; sister, Jaunell Splawn Culver of Hobbs, New Mexico; brother, Billy Splawn of Azle; in-laws, Eva Stanley, Cecil Thomas and Frank Thomas; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends and loved ones.
