Floyd was born July 18, 1933 in Jones, OK. As a young man, he was a high school teacher and basketball and baseball coach in Haskell, OK and Oilton, OK, a job he loved, and which earned him the nickname “Coach,” especially to his granddaughters, which stuck with him all his life. He joined the U.S. Army Reserve during high school and later enlisted with the Army National Guard during the Korean War. He eventually became an accountant and retired from Dollar Rent A Car in 2003. He married Patty Lou Pendley on Feb 15, 1964, and they celebrated 51 years of marriage until her death in 2015. Floyd and Patty lived in Tulsa, OK for the majority of their lives, raising their children there. They moved to Fort Worth, TX in 2005 to be closer to their granddaughters, and spent the remainder of their lives there. Floyd never met a person who didn’t like him. He made friends with everyone he encountered, and had an easy sense of humor and affability that drew people to him.
Floyd is survived by his two daughters, Leslie McGee (Leon McGee) and Whitney Herriage (Brian DuPont), and his two granddaughters, Price Gass (Nathan Gass) and Francie Herriage-Wilson (Zak Freeman).
