Frank R. Morrison, 79, passed away February 16, 2020 at his home in Fort Worth. He left this world peacefully surrounded by the love of his family.
Service: 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 23, 2020 in Biggers Funeral Chapel.
Visitation: 4 to-6:00 p.m., Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Biggers Funeral Home.
Interment: 1:30 p.m., Monday, February 24, 2020 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Frank was born on January 5, 1941 in DuBois, Pennsylvania to Robert and Doris Morrison. Being the first of seven children, he was tasked with taking care of the family farm and his siblings. During his childhood, he earned the nickname “Fibber” or was often lovingly referred to as “Ralphie” by his family.
In 1958, he joined the Army and served his country for over 14 years, including several years in the Vietnam War. He received numerous medals and awards, and through travels, photographed the world. While serving in Vietnam, he received a letter from a lovely young college student, who would first become his penpal and later the “love of his life”.
He married Patricia “Dianne” Darnell on December 23, 1972 in the TCU Chapel in Fort Worth. After moving to Phoenix, Arizona, he started a waterproofing company and they began their life together. They had a wonderful seven years together, dancing, laughing and fishing before they welcomed their first child, Michelle and six years later, their son, Matthew.
In 1989, they purchased and renovated their final business endeavor, a hotel in Odessa, Texas. Together, they built an amazing family-run business which led to life-long friendships and memories. After 25 years of hard work, they finally retired to their dream home on Eagle Mountain Lake.
During his life, Frank was an avid golfer and fisherman. He won multiple tournaments and proudly displayed his trophies. Frank and Dianne enjoyed 47 years of marriage, living the “World’s greatest love story”. The last years of his life were full of beautiful sunsets, daily laughter and the joy of watching his children and grandchildren flourish.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris E. and Robert E. Morrison; two brothers, Douglas Morrison and Danny Morrison; and his sister, Cheryl Carney.
Survivors: He is survived by his wife, Patricia “Dianne” Morrison; children, Frank and Thuy Morrison, Michelle and Neil Kennedy and Matthew and Priscilla Morrison; his seven grandchildren; siblings, Erma Hudgins, Robert “Butch” Morrison, David and Dottie Morrison and Marlene Morrison.
