GLEN ROSE – Gary Floyd Cockrell, 70, passed away Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019, at his home in Glen Rose.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Wiley Funeral Home, 504 Holden St., Glen Rose. Burial: Mitchell Cemetery, Iredell.
Gary Floyd Cockrell was born July 17, 1949, in Pampa, the only son and middle of three children to the late Floyd and Dorothy Snuggs Cockrell. He made his career with the Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant for many years and married the former Betty Kathryn Mayben in Pampa on Sept. 8, 1974. Gary and Betty made their home in Bosque County for the last 36 years where his passion was raising pigs, cows, and finally goats and dogs.
Gary was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Leah Grace Cockrell; and his parents.
Survivors include his wife of almost 45 years, Betty Cockrell; children, Clinton Floyd Cockrell and wife, Joahnna, and Wendy Kathryn Cockrell; grandsons, Ellis and Evan Cockrell; sisters, Becky Currie and husband, Neil, and Sue Snider and husband, Charlie; niece, Suzette Snider Dorris; nephews, Rod Snider, Brandon Currie, and Colby Currie; and a host of loving family and friends.
