Gayle Steyer, age 68, went to be with the Lord on September 10, 2021.

Gayle was the second of three children born to Robert and Lois Heidrich. She was born on March 2, 1953, the day before Lois turned 30, Gayle celebrated milestone birthdays with her mother throughout their lives. Gayle grew up in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, attending Pennoyer Elementary, Maine South High School and Northern Illinois University. There, she met Bill Steyer, whom she married in 1974. Together, they moved to Minnesota and were blessed with a daughter, Cory. Eventually, they relocated to Texas. She loved living in the Ft. Worth area, and when asked if she was from Texas she would reply “No, but I got here as soon as I could!” Gayle was a tirelessly devoted supermom to Cory who suffered from Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis most of her life. Gayle lost Bill to divorce in 1996 and Cory to Rheumatoid Arthritis in 2005. She enjoyed 25 years of good times and travel with Stan Rowland until he passed away in 2019. They acquired many fun and loyal friends who supported Gayle through her late illness. Gayle had an engineering mind and natural creativity which helped her to be the successful business owner of First Place Signs for many years. She was outgoing, congenial and never met a challenge she couldn’t conquer. Gayle was well loved by her friends and family and had a generous spirit.

She is survived by her older sister, Susan (Art) Terlecki; as well as brother, Don (Tina) Heidrich; She enjoyed loving relationships with her two nieces, Heather (Allen) Skillicorn and Lauren (Craig) Grundmeier. One of the highlights of Heather and Lauren’s school vacations were Gayle and Cory’s visits to Chicago. They brought all of the family together with their love, laughter and fun experiences. Gayle also enjoyed being a GAG (Great Aunt Gayle) to Liam and Ava Lyn Grundmeier.
