George David Simmons, 63, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Biggers Funeral Chapel. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
George David Simmons, a lifelong area resident, graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1969. He worked in aircraft assembly at General Dynamics for eight years. George was a volunteer fire fighter at Lake Worth Fire Department for 10 years, served as assistant chief for six years and worked in the Lake Worth Water Department for five years. He was a member of The Baptist Church at Park Glen for 18 years and has served on the Board of Trustees for two terms.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Edmon and Mary Williams Simmons.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Jean; sons, Paul David Simmons, George Edmon Simmons and wife, Candy, Delbert Shane Simmons, William Albert Griffin, Jason Kirk Simmons, Joe Michael Simmons and wife, Rachael; brother, Billy Wayne Simmons; and grandchildren, P.J., Shelby, Terry, Aimee, Cheyenne, Tiffany, Madison, Cameron, Sidney, Austin and Caleb.
