George Zelinski

George Zelinski grew up in Wisconsin in a wonderful Polish family. He had 4 sisters and one brother. George served in the US Navy during World War II, stationed in China and Japan. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned home, and fell in love with Mel Van Zeeland. They were married in Kimberly, Wisconsin on August 8, 1953. George and Mel had four children. The family has grown to include 10 grandchildren, 8 of whom are married and they now have 11 great grandchildren. George’s career spanned 33 years, all with American Can Company as a Purchasing and senior Transportation Manager. During his time with American Can, the family lived in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Texas, Georgia, and Illinois. Upon his retirement in 1987, George and Mel moved to Pecan Plantation, where he enjoyed many happy years playing golf, going to church, volunteering for Meals on Wheels, making dear friends, and most importantly spending time with his “favorite people”, his family. Despite his declining health over the last few years, George continued to enjoy life, traveling with his family every chance he got. His smile and joy of life will always be remembered by those who loved him.

George passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2020 in Granbury, Texas.
