Lola Grace Elliott, age 101, born May 3, 1918 in Lindsay, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2019 in Glen Rose Hospital.
Grace loved the Lord and became a Christian when she was 12 years old. She remembers going to church in a wooden wagon pulled by mules when she was a young girl. Grace was very active in the Order of the Eastern Star and became the Worthy Matron of the Del Rio Eastern Star Chapter #204 for 1976-1977. She received her 50-year lifetime award in May 2017 and became an Endowed Member in August 2018.
Grace was a tough lady, pulling 185 pounds of cotton right before giving birth to her second child. She had a very creative and artistic mind. She loved needlepointing, crocheting and making her own patterns. She also loved Ford Mustangs and her Dr. Pepper! She moved to Granbury at the age of 85 and when she turned 95 bowled a 200 in the Granbury Senior League.
Survivors: daughter, Elizabeth Pounds Carter; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Linda Hawkins; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Miriam Hawkins; daughter-in-law Kathy Hawkins; grandchildren, Mike and Melissa Pounds, Jana and Donna Pounds-Bullis, Kay and Richard Brown, Terri Bagot, Winn and Tom Carter-Peasley, Janice Cater, Julie Hawkins, Jennifer and Bryan Bishop, Jamie and Christie Hawkins, Gregory Feeback, Christopher and Stephanie Feeback, Jeff Johnson, Mindy and Benji Lewis, Alan Hawkins, Amanda and Mike Henslee and Liana and Tony Eccles; fifteen great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Laura Williamson; her husband, Michael A. Elliott; her son, George David Hawkins and her brother and his wife Floyd and Lucille Williamson.
Memorial Service: 2:00 PM. Saturday; August 3, 2019 at Wiley Funeral Home Chapel in Granbury.
Visitation: 6:00 – 8:00pm. Friday; August 2, 2019 at Wiley Funeral Home.
