Gwendola Mae “Gwen” Pennington passed away Sunday, May 21, 2023, in Fort Worth, TX.

Gwen was born in Weatherford, TX, December 3, 1937, to the late Marvin M. and Nannie Pearl Rutledge. She grew up in the Fox/Millsap area and attended Millsap High School. She worked several years at First National Bank, Weatherford. She met the love of her life, Jamie Loyd (Cook) Pennington while working at the bank. They married in May 1969.
Gwen loved to be with her children and grandchildren. She also loved for her family and extended family to gather in her home in White Settlement. Gwen was a member of First Baptist Church in White Settlement. In recent years, she attended New Hope Baptist Church in Boyd, TX. Gwen was compassionate, loving, and a faithful believer in God. She also loved to travel. Some of her favorite destinations were Red River, New Mexico (where she and Jamie traveled often in their younger years) and Branson, Missouri.
Gwen had some favorite sayings and a couple of them were: “Oh fiddle sticks” and “Go butt a stump”.
Gwen was preceded in death by her husband.
She is survived by her children: daughter, Coda Pennington Riley and son, Tracy C. and Isabel Pennington; grandchildren, Jeter Ben and Kristi Riley, Joni Riley, Anthony Elizalda, Jessica Pennington and Josh Kubiak, Jesse R. and Jessica Pennington; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; nieces, Lorene Clerihew and Linda and Charlie Russell, and nephew, Harold, Jr., and Venice Simmons; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews; Aunt, Frances Rutledge; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; longtime friends and caregiver, Natalie and Tim Lockhart.
