WACO — H.C. “Chuck” Schafer, Jr., 94, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, in Waco.
Graveside service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at Acton Cemetery, Granbury, Texas
Mr. Schafer was born May 23, 1919, in El Dorado, Kan., to Harry Charles Schafer, Sr. and Marie Binter Schafer. He married Dorothy Faye Koether, Dec. 24, 1947, in Nashville, Tenn. Mr. Schafer served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. Chuck loved golf and going dancing. He enjoyed his garden and grew the best tomatoes. He enjoyed going to the senior center, watching football and always had the sweetest smile. He was a farm equipment dealer. Preceding him in death were his parents, Harry and Marie Shafer and wife, Dorothy Schafer. Special thank you to Southern Care Hospice of Waco for all of the loving care they gave.
Survivors: Children, Charles A. Schafer and wife, Marianna, E.B. and husband, Richard, Helen J. Schafer, Patty Smith and husband, Barry, Nancy Powell and husband, Ed; grandchildren, Troy, Collin, Chris, Charley, Summer, David, Wendy, Darin and Jamie; five great grandchildren; brother, Jerry Schafer and wife, Evelyn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
