HAROLD KEITH

Harold Dale Keith, 94, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012 in North Richland Hills.
Graveside Service: 1 p.m. Monday in Holly Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 11 a.m. at the cemetery preceding the service.
Dale was born Sept. 25, 1917 in Eldorado, Okla. When he was a small boy, his family moved back to Texas. He grew up in Desdemona. His family moved to Fort Worth after he graduated from high school. He enlisted in the Army Air Force on May 28, 1942. He spent a lot of his time in Kingman, Ariz. working as a mechanic on the 8-17 airplanes. On Jan. 26, 1945, he received an honorable discharge as a corporal at Maxwell Air Base in Montgomery, Ala.
Dale returned to Fort Worth after being discharged. He attended TCU and earned a degree in geology. After he graduated, he worked for a couple of small oil companies and drilled wells in west Texas and New Mexico. In June of 1952 he went to work for Woodson Oil Company. He worked in the north central and west Texas areas and then was sent to Flint, Mich. where he spent about two and a half years as production superintendent staking, contracting drillers, studying samples and completing and producing oil wells.
After his return to Fort Worth, he went to the Texas Panhandle. He stayed in the town of Perryton and drilled in Ochiltree County. While he was living there he met and married Elsie Lee Morris. She had four daughters. They bought a home in the Arlington Heights section of Fort Worth. They enjoyed boating and waterskiing and spent many hours on Eagle Mountain Lake. Dale and Elsie joined the National Power Squadron. Shortly after they joined, he won the Squadron’s annual Navigator’s Contest and received a large trophy. Dale worked for Woodson Oil Company for nine years until they shut down the exploration department. He had jobs with several drug store companies and built several homes in Benbrook before he retired and they moved to Granbury.
His wife, Elsie passed away in January of 1988. About a year later he joined a bowling league for seniors. He really enjoyed doing this and met a lot of new friends. That is where he met a real nice lady named Alneda. They married in September of 1991. They were together until she passed away in January of 2006.
Dale moved into an assisted living center in May of 2005 to be close to his daughters and their families. They treasure all of the good times they had with him and will miss him very much. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
The family would like to express its appreciation to the staff at Emerald Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center and Heart to Heart Hospice for their wonderful care.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Jo Munson and husband, Don, Nan Wirtz and husband, Ronnie, Sue Morris and Jean Reeves; grandchildren, Sherri Murphy and husband, Kevin, Dwain Neystel, Deborah Tilson, Robert Dale Wirtz and wife, Kelly, Terry Keith Brown and wife, Christina, Steven Reeves, Jim Reeves and wife, Jerry; 11 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; nephews, Ed Keith and Grady Addington; niece, Evelyn McIntosh.
