GRANBURY — Harold J. Slater, 79, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015, in Granbury.
Funeral: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, at Lakeside Baptist Church in Granbury.
Burial: Holly Hills Memorial Park.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wiley Funeral Home.
Memorials: Lakeside Baptist Church Building Fund.
Harold was born July 7, 1936, in Mayfield, Kansas, to Harold Eugene Slater and Mildred Elnora Freeman Slater. He married Judith Ann Hartline, June 16, 1956, in Colton, Calif. He was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and was dedicated to the Loaves and Fishes ministry. Railroading was his life and he worked for Santa Fe Railroad and RailTex and retired in 2000. He was a founding member of “Old Coots with Big Hats”. Harold was a life-long blood donor and had a servants heart. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Elizabeth Ann Moore, and brothers, Richard Dean Slater and Keith Ellis Slater.
Survivors: Wife, Judith Slater; children, Karen Lynette Cashion, Steven Wayne Slater and wife, Tami; grandchildren, John Cashion and fiance, Jenny Johnson, Monica Smith, Angie Vackers and husband, Scott, Cara Cashion, Lyndsie Slater, Emma Slater; great grandchildren, Mackenzie Smith, Hailey Smith, Micah Vackers, McCai Vackers.
