Harold Thomas Johnson, Sr., 82, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2018. Service: 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 7, 2018, Wiley Funeral Home Chapel, Granbury, Interment: Rough Creek Cemetery, Granbury.
Harold was born on August 20, 1935 in Trout Lake, Michigan to William and Hilda Johnson. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. He met Evelyn through family and they were married on April 7, 1959 in Cedarville, Michigan. They enjoyed being outdoors together especially fishing. He taught their kids to love nature and to enjoy outdoor activities. He was extremely proud of his family.
Harold had an infectious smile and everybody liked him. His joy came from giving joy to others. He enjoyed working in his cedar wood workshop and selling items to the public. He also built the family home in Michigan. He enjoyed hunting and loved spending time with his dog Oscar. He was preceded in death by his parents and step mother Mildred, and siblings, William Jr., James, Hilda, Mildred and Francis “Butch”.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 58 years: Evelyn Johnson, children: Harold “Tom” Johnson Jr. and partner Amy DeLapp, Joy Mahoney and husband Brian Sr., Mike Johnson and wife Tracey, and Lisa Nelson and husband Kevin, grandchildren: Melissa, Stephanie, Brian Jr., Anna, Nick, Josh, Chris, Andrea, Andrew, and Stephen, great-grandchildren; Dylan, Kylie, Lexie, Alyssa, Merissa, Kerri, Josslyn, Levi, Josh Jr., Jason, Brian III and Lily, brothers: Jack Johnson and Arthur “Pete” Varty, sisters: Virginia Butkovich and Louella McWhinne, many brother and sister in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special companion Oscar.
