Henry Stanton Alberda

Henry Stanton Alberda, 65, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017 following a lengthy illness and per his wishes, no service is planned.

Henry was born June 12, 1952 in Butte, Montana and at less than 24 hours old was adopted by Henry and Ellen Alberda of Manhattan, Montana. In addition to Henry, his parents adopted eight other children, all of which are located in Maine, Montana, Colorado, and Arizona. Having grown up in a Dutch community, helping with daily chores on the family dairy farm (established in 1893), attending a Dutch school, and his Calvin Christian Reform Religion was his life as a young boy in Montana.

After Henry left Montana, he earned his Associate Degree in machine shop technology at Mount Hood Community College in Oregon. In the early 80’s Henry moved to Fort Worth and worked as a machinist doing tool and die work and when he got bored with machining, he turned to long haul driving, everything from flatbeds to tankers. In the late 80’s thru the 90’s, Henry took up photography and with the help of his father-in-law became quite a talented photographer, even at times setting up a darkroom to develop black and white photos. In 1991 Henry photographed his younger brother’s wedding along the Atlantic Coastline in Maine, yielding beautiful photos as a wedding gift to Pete and Barbara.

As a lifetime member of the NRA and The Texas State Rifle Assn., in years past Henry really enjoyed trap and skeet shooting and in most recent years going to the gun range with family and friends, or shooting alone.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors: His wife of over 25 years, Julie; daughter, Charlotte of Bozeman, Montana.; 8 brothers and sisters, Richard, Connie, Pete, Mark, Laurie, Debbie, Dan, and Sheila; stepson, Scott Leonard and his family; sister-in-law, Jani Stokes and husband, Gary; mother-in-law, Venita Barnhill; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and so many great friends. Henry and Julie adopted a six month old Blue Heeler three years ago and Blue was Henry’s constant and loving companion.
