Herbert “Herb” Ray Reeves

Herbert Ray “Pa” Reeves, age 91, traveled to his eternal home on March 2, 2021 after a brief illness.

Services will be held at Lighthouse Fellowship on March 8^th at 1:00 PM, followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Biggers Funeral Home on March 7^th from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, R.R. and Melba Faye Reeves; his brothers, Bobby and Bill Reeves; his sister, Frances King; and his daughter Deborah Moore.

He is survived by his wife, Bettye Reeves; his daughter, Sherry Coffey; six grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Herbert was born in Fort Worth, Texas on July 18, 1929.

He was a US Marine who served his country proudly during World War II.

After the war, Herbert married the love of his life, Bettye, in December 1947, and they enjoyed life together for 73 years.

He was an ever-available counselor, comforter, and encourager to his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

After the war, he went to work at Convair, which became General Dynamics, and eventually Lockheed. He retired from Lockheed 36 years later as a general foreman having worked on a number of programs, most notably several generations of the F-16 Fighting Falcon.

Herbert was the definition of a churchman. His was a faith in action.

He was a longtime member of Lake Worth United Methodist Church, now Lighthouse Fellowship.

Whether it was preparation for the Lord’s Acre, serving as a committee member, or just mowing the grass, Herbert was a ready servant.

He mentored, scolded, and befriended generations of ministers there.

Herbert was a Master Mason and served as Master at both the River Oaks and Lake Worth lodges.

He received his 65-year pin in January 2019 at Lake Worth Lodge and was an avid sponsor of their scholarships for local students.

Herbert began playing golf at the age of 70 and it quickly became a passion.

He marshaled at The Resort for many years and volunteered at the Colonial Tournament up to age 90.

He worked out daily at the Northwest YMCA for over twenty years—well past his 91st birthday.

He loved Facebook, where he was known as Pa Reeves. It connected him to friends and family, and he was constantly adding and interacting with new friends.

He was extremely partial to kids in need and always generous with his donations.
