Hubert Lee Jackson

Hubert Lee Jackson died peacefully at age 89 on December 25, 2011. Born August 1, 1922, to Thelma and Roy Jackson in Howland, Texas, he grew up outside Paris, TX, and attended Lamar County schools. After graduating from high school, he was drafted into the army during World War II and served as a medic in the 84th Infantry and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. After returning from his tour of duty, Hubert was active in the National Guard reaching the level of Company Commander of the 36th Infantry in Paris, TX.
He worked for the Texas Highway Department for 36 years as an inspector in the construction department. After retiring, he settled in Granbury, Texas, where he lived until his death.
Hubert is survived by his daughter, Judy Candace Route and her husband Leslie of San Antonio, Texas; son Don Bradley Jackson of New Mexico; sister, Dorothy Bankhead of Paris, Texas; sister, Faye Woods of Burleson, Texas; brother, Bill Jackson and his wife Judy of Midland, Texas; and sister Donna Shrake and husband Bruce of Houston, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Tommie Townsend.
He leaves grandchildren, Jake Jackson and wife Rita of San Diego, California,
Brian Route and wife Shelby of Round Rock, Texas; great grandsons Adrien Jackson of San Diego, California, and Reid and Rhett Route of Round Rock, Texas. Hubert also leaves a daughter-in-law, Lorraine Urich of San Diego, California.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Cathy and Homer Goolsbee of Granbury, Doug Keith of Granbury, Maria Sirois of Pecan Plantation, and Junior Vanderburg of Powderly, Texas, for their love and years of friendship to Hubert.
Funeral services will be held in Granbury at the Wiley Funeral Home, 400 Hwy. 377, East, Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at 2 p.m. Internment will follow at Holly Hills Memorial Park in Granbury.
