GRANBURY — Iline L. Dittlinger, 93, peacefully passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, in Granbury with her beloved husband by her side.
Service: 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.
Rosary: 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Burial services are pending at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church Knights of Columbus Council 9748 in Granbury, Tx in memory of Iline.
Iline was born October 5, 1922 in Agua Dulce, Tx to Jim and Mary Zapalac. After graduating from Agua Dulce High School, she met the love of her life, E. J. Dittlinger. A war bride, they were married December 9, 1943 while E. J. was home on leave. After World War II, they settled in Corpus Christi, Tx; briefly lived in San Antonio, Tx; and most recently lived in Granbury, Tx for the past 25 years. They just recently celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary.
Iline was a consummate mother and homemaker and gave generously of her time to the church with volunteer work and support of fundraising events. Her family always looked forward to her home cooking at holiday gatherings, and many made a special request for her kolaches and pigs-in-the-blanket. Never idle, Iline was also a creative seamstress and crafter. She and E.J. enjoyed regular dancing and spent many years travelling all over the world. They began camping from the time their children were young, and then enjoyed RVing throughout the U.S. with close friends. Iline enjoyed people, and everywhere she travelled she met a new lifelong friend.
Iline was preceded in death by her parents, her twin brother, and four other brothers and sisters. Thanks to the staff at Harbor Lakes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care.
Survivors include her husband, Edward J. (E.J.) Dittlinger; sister, Nell Hurt of Granbury, Tx; son, James (Margie) of Hunt, Tx; daughter, Joeline Geick (Glenn) of Bellville, Tx; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
