Irvin Barnes was born on January 20, 1922 in Lawson, Arkansas to Nelson and Zelma Barnes. He went home to our Lord on April 26, 2012.
Funeral: A celebration of Irvin’s life will be Tuesday, May 1st at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Biggers Funeral Chapel. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: The family will receive friends on Monday, April 30th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Biggers Funeral Home.

In 1942 Irvin answered his country’s call and volunteered for the Army Air Corps. He served in several major battles including D-Day. Irvin retired from the Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant with 30 years of service. Irvin started a career as a a vocational mechanics teacher at Boswell High School. After a 15 year career as an educator he retired again.
Irvin was a godly man, active in Rosen Heights Baptist for over 40 years. In addition to serving as a deacon he served his Lord in the children’s department and in the church office.
He is survived by his wife Leona. They were blessed with a marriage of over 66 years; Irvin is also survived by his daughter Angela Barnes Annis and her husband Harold, and by his son, Andrew Barnes and his wife Donna. He was also blessed with 3 grandchildren Barney Annis, Jessica Barnes Bellemer, and Travis Barnes and 2 great granddaughters, Caty and Alex Annis.
