J Miles Horner, 63, of Granbury, a master carpenter and ranch foreman, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2013 near Granbury. A public memorial will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday, December 12 at the Pavilion at the Wied Cantina in Silverado on the Brazos, 700 Cutters Trail, between Granbury and Weatherford on Highway 51. The service will be presided by Revs. Drew Travis of First Presbyterian Church, and Charles Sommervill, both of Granbury. A reception will follow at the Cantina. Wiley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
J was born August 12, 1950, in Uvalde, Texas to Needham and Marie Horner. He graduated from Uvalde High School and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University in Waco. J made his home in Granbury in 1975. He married the love of his life, Cynthia Clark, on September 28, 1991.
After working for Brown & Root Construction at Comanche Peak, J started his own business as a master carpenter and builder. For a time, he lived at the historic Nutt House Hotel on the historic Granbury square. J restored not only the hotels
