Putz, Jack D Sr., beloved husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa and friend to many, passed away peacefully October 17, 2019. Service: 11:00 A.M. Saturday October 19, 2019, Martin’s Funeral Home Chapel; Visitation: 10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. Saturday October 19, 2019, Martin’s Funeral Home.
Jack was born and raised in Bryan, Texas. He joined the navy after high school and served for 13 years. Jack and Betty married in 1963 and together they raised three children, Sherry, Charlotte and Jack Jr.
Jack retired from his lifelong career as a diesel mechanic in 2009 but never turned down the opportunity to help friends and neighbors by repairing, rebuilding or restoring anything brought to him. He loved spending time in his shop telling stories and conversing with anyone that wanted to pull up a lawn chair and join him. His faithful dog, Blue, was always close by.
Jack was proceeded in death by his parents, William Charles and Rose Putz, his brother Bill Putz, and great grandson Waylon Marshall.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Putz; son Jack Putz Jr. and his wife Jeanette; daughters Sherry Parsley and her husband Corey; and Charlotte Basta; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
