I was so sorry to hear that Jack had passed away. I started going to Holladay when I was 10, and Jack is a big part of the memories I share from my time at that church. He was always there with a smile and a hug any time. I am so grateful to know he is with the Lord. Norma, I will be praying for you and your family as you go through this time.
TSgt (Ret) Glenn R. Chapman left a message on January 5, 2013:
I am extremely sorry to hear about Lt Col Reed. I knew him as a Major only slightly when I was with the USAF Project "Senior Bowl" at Beale AFB, CA from 1968-71. I was with him twice the Liberty Ship on two of our our D-21B missions. In fact, he is the one who taught me how to scamper up a rope ladder from the Sea Going tugboat to the top of the Liberty after leaving from Midway Island. He was, in my view, a very gifted man and treated us "enlisted weenies" extremely well. In my short time of knowing him, I learned more than I can remember. TSgt Ret Glenn R. Chapman Payload Specialist "A: Flight/4200 Support Squadron, Beale AFB, CA, Project "Senior Bowl."
Alex Brewer Lt/Col USAF (ret) left a message on January 14, 2013:
My condolences to Jack's family. Jack was my instructor in B-58's at Carswell AFB. He was really very conscientious and a very thorough teacher. Previously, I had been a Radar/Nav in B-47 and B-52 so Jack kidded me and said he would have to retrain me. When I landed from my fifth B-58 training mission.. Jack was there at debriefing and told me that "I was now one of them". I asked him what he meant by that.. he told me that he was sponsoring me as an Instructor in CCTS. He was really a great instructor and I am saddened to learn of his passing. Alex

I was a student at Carswell in 196 so Jack Reed may have been one of my instructors for DSO. I do not remember Jack but flew with instructors who gave us DSO hard times. I remember the ostive. Symathy to your family.
