Born August 22, 1930 in Mart, Texas to Clarence Jackson and Della House. Graduate of Mart High School, former Miss Mart of 1948. Working after graduation in Houston and later for a law firm in Denton, she married Mart schoolmate Harold Lee David on February 1, 1950. They resided primarily in the Dallas area, were active members of Casa View Baptist Church, and traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and the World over Jackie’s 40-year career with the American Red Cross Volunteers, and Harold’s 34-year career with Mobil Oil Company.
She began her service with the American Red Cross in Dallas, volunteering her time at the local Veterans Hospital. Her commitment to service and leadership led to increasing positions of responsibility, serving as Chapter President in Dallas, and both Regional and Area Management positions before being called to serve in Washington. There, Jackie served as Chairman of the American Red Cross Volunteers for three years and later, as a member of the Board of Governors for an additional six years. In 2003, Jackie was recognized for her years of dedicated work, receiving the distinguished Harriman Award for volunteer service.
After retiring from the American Red Cross, Jackie and Harold continued to travel and enjoyed spending time on the small farm they owned near Mart before moving to Granbury, Texas in 2010. After Harold’s passing in 2017, Jackie continued to live in Granbury until called her to her Heavenly Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Lee David, her parents, sister Marye Francis Felty and brother Clarence (Sonny) House. She is survived by her two sons, Greg David and wife Vicki of Muenster, Tx.; Phillip David and wife Trish of Glen Rose, Tx.; three grandchildren, Jonathan David and wife Miranda of Muenster, Tx.; Jennifer Williams and husband Rick of Virginia Beach, VA.; Russ David and wife Rachel of Tulsa, OK.; four great-grandchildren Owen and Elena David; Kyle and Ryan Williams; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and friends.
