James Edward Steel Sr.,87, of Fort Worth, loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away on January 1, 2021 at Green Valley Nursing Home in North Richland Hills, TX.
A graveside service will be held 2:00pm Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Ash Creek Cemetery.
Born June 22, 1933 in Brown County, Texas, he was the son of late Ben and Maudie Steel. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and became a navy medic and served in the Korean War. He was a member of the Painter’s Local Union and retired from Tarrant County College. He served many years as a Deacon and song leader in his church and sang in his church quartet. He was a Master Mason in the Grand Lodge of Texas, Lake Worth division. James was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Maude Steel; his wife, Jackie “Norweta” of 59 years; his sisters, Joyce Sullivan, Elizabeth Ann Steel, Janette Moon, and Jean Davis.
James is survived by his sister, Ada Wells; daughter Beverly Hebel and her husband Ted; son James Edward Steel Jr. and his wife Latanne; many grandchildren and great grandchildren who all adored him.
