GRANBURY — James Edwin Tomlinson, 84, closed his eyes and awoke in the merciful arms of his savior, Saturday, November 10, 2012. Service: 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 14, 2012, First Baptist Church, Granbury. Interment: Holly Hills Memorial Park, Granbury. Visitation: 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials: In lieu of usual remembrances, the Tomlinson family requests contributions in Edwin’s memory to Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6001.
He was born February 2, 1928 in Hood County and was a life long resident of the Granbury area, with the exception of a 4 year Navy tour during the Korean War.
Edwin was a three term sheriff of Hood County, Texas, from 1981 to 1992, and is the longest serving sheriff of Hood County. He served under lifelong friend, Sheriff Henry Robertson as Deputy Sheriff, prior to being elected sheriff himself, and served as a volunteer reserve law enforcement officer prior to being a sheriff deputy. Before his law enforcement career he owned and operated a Dairy Farm in a small community of Fairview. He was a farmer and rancher his entire life. He went home with full and certain knowledge of his faith in Jesus which gave him great comfort during his and his wife’s illnesses.
He was preceded in death by parents, Arden and Dora Tomlinson, his sister and her husband, Maurine and F.W. Bandy, and a great nephew, Blaine Bandy.
He is survived by his wife, Reba, two daughters, Teresa Graham and husband, Jack, and Darlene Hiler and husband, Randy, a
