James “Jim” F. Sauernheimer

James Francis Sauernheimer, 72, a beloved father and husband, passed away suddenly on June 1^st at his home in Granbury, Texas.  Jim is best remembered for his infectious smile, outgoing personality, and sense of humor. Those who knew him often said, “He never met a stranger.”  He was loved by many: friends, family, and neighbors.

Jim was born in 1950 in Berea, Ohio to William and Eleanor Sauernheimer and grew up in Westlake, Ohio. He graduated from Bowling Green State University with a marketing degree. Jim married Monya Swope, who he met at BGSU, in 1973 and the couple lived several places in Ohio before moving south in 1976. They spent 22 years in Texas and raised their children there, then moved to Illinois and Wisconsin for Jim’s career. Jim retired as a Zone Sales Manager for Nestle USA, and they moved back to Texas in 2016 to be close to their children.

Jim, a resident of Pecan Plantation for six years, was the current vice president of the Pecan Plantation Men’s Golf Association.  He was a lover of sports especially golf and hockey, as well as an enthusiast of anything to do with the outdoors including camping, landscaping, swimming, fishing, snowmobiling, and walking his dog Zoey. Jim and Monya, his wife of 49 years, were also worldwide travelers.

Jim is survived by his wife; two daughters, Sondra Lynne Sauernheimer and Tara (Sauernheimer) Johnson; one grandson, Corey James Hill; one sister Debra Ann Sauernheimer; two nephews Scott and Kirk Sauernheimer and their families; and niece Christina Parente. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ken Sauernheimer, and his parents.

A Memorial Mass and reception will be held at 11am, Thursday, July 21, 2022 in his honor at St. Francis Cabrini, Granbury, Texas.
