THE WHITFIELD FIVE
Brothers they were, those five were all boy Floyd, Hugh, Jim, Hollie and Roy
Such a time they all had when they were young
Going places on horseback, songs of joy they sung
Saturday nights were theirs, to have such fun
Going to the local dance, foes saw them coming and wanted to run
Jim and Roy, those two stirred it all up
Floyd and Hugh just had their backs, yup Hollie was youngest and missed many a fight
But you know he was praying for them all to get through the night
Going back home completely worn out
All falling asleep on top of their mount
Not to worry none, for they had had their play
Sleeping sound as a baby, knowing their horse knew the way
Waking up in the morning arriving home at the gate
All was well, back then things were really great
Now St. Peter is there, Floyd, Hugh, Roy and Hollie too
Yes, they’re all there telling Jim, “HEY BROTHER, COME ON IN, WE’VE BEEN
WAITING FOR YOU!”
