James Robert Burwick, 92, passed away Monday, August 10, 2015 in Granbury, TX. A private family memorial will be in Sweetwater, TX in the future.
James was born August 30, 1922 in Nolan County, TX to Robert F. and Willie Mae Burwick. James was the eldest of three children and grew up in Blackwell, TX. He met Edna Louise Stevens in high school. One of their first dates was going to see “Gone with the Wind” in the theater; they were immediately sweethearts. James served in the U.S. Air Force flying 56 missions in World War II. James enjoyed grilling and cooking, eating and watching the Cowboys play. He was a Bar-B-Que King, a restauranteur and a caterer. James was preceded in death by his beloved wife Edna Burwick; son James Robert “Bobby” Burwick, III; his brothers and sister in-law Therell and Lillie Burwick and Bill Burwick. He was a simple Christian man and he will be missed.
James leaves behind his daughters Linda Willis, Sherry Drehobl; daughter in-law Debbie Burwick; grandchildren Damon Willis and wife Crystal, Sara Beth Drehobl, Dallas Burwick and wife Christl; great grandchildren Hudson Douglas Smith and Aidan Burwick; and sister in-law Billie Ruth Burwick.
