He was born in Toledo, Ohio and raised in Paris, Tennessee. In his youth, Jason was part of the first Paris Jaguars travel soccer team. His interests shifted to motocross during high school. Jason’s Suzuki RM125, with his signature number “114”, garnered numerous first place finishes. His theory was “full-throttle, add brake if needed”. He also shared his family’s passion for boating. On the water, Jason loved to barefoot ski, slalom ski and wakeboard. Upon graduation from Henry County High School, he earned his degree in Business and Marketing at the University of Memphis. During college, he was very active in Sigma Phi Epsilon where he made lasting friendships with his Sig Ep brothers.
Jason worked as a bartender throughout college. After moving to Fort Worth, he continued to bartend while developing rental properties. He realized his dream of owning his own bar just over a year ago, opening Lottie’s Neighborhood Bar in March 2020 in the West 7th area of Fort Worth. He named the bar after his much-adored niece, Charlotte. The puppy-friendly atmosphere was inspired by his beloved boxer “Buddy”, as is the saying “Lottie dottie it’s time to paw-ty”.
He had many close friends, but his best friend was his dad. God made one mold for Kummerow men, and they were literally two peas in a pod. When you met Jason, whether it was a handshake or a hug, you knew you had a friend. With his kind heart, unassuming way, and magnetic personality, he had a way of building community wherever he went. He will be greatly missed.
Jason is survived by his parents, Jack and Sharon Kummerow of Paris, Tennessee; his sister, Kristy (Adam) Broman, and his niece, Charlotte, of Homewood, Alabama.
