Mildred Jean Denny Meyer passed away in her sleep on October 28, 2021, at The Cove in Granbury, Texas. She was 94 years old.
She attended Acton School during her early years and graduated from Granbury High School in 1944.
Jean married Milton Meyer on December 8, 1948, in Fort Worth, Texas. They spent their whole married life in Granbury where they raised their four children.
Jean is the second oldest member of the Granbury Church of Christ which she attended for over 70 years.
She was an original member of the Women’s Wednesday Club and an active member of the Granbury Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed working in the gift shop and visiting with family that came in and out.
Jean loved sports and enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and Mavericks and critiquing performance with family and friends. For many years, her neighbor Carol Mangold came over and they watched the Cowboys together.
In later years, Jean enjoyed visiting with her neighbor Aunita Norman and lifelong friend Bobbie Rockwell. They attended opera house performances and loved dining out.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Milton Meyer, her parents Zula and Homer Denny and mother and father-in-law Preston and Lillie Belle Meyer.
She is survived by her sister LouAnn White and husband Irvin. Her children Susan Austin and husband Tom of Uvalde, Texas, Paula Nelson of Farmers Branch, Texas, Scott Meyer and wife Monette of Weatherford, Texas and Craig Meyer and wife Tracie of Granbury, Texas.
Grandchildren Cortney Esquitin of Pflugerville, Texas, Aaron Riggins of Omaha, Nebraska, Natalie Nelson, Preston Meyer of Naples, Florida, Conrad Meyer of Fort Collins, Colorado. Great-grandchildren Baxter Brewer, Lillie Meyer, and Layla Meyer. Nephews Judd, Corey, Cade, and Brady White.
