GRANBURY — Jerry Don George, 77, passed away Friday, May 31, 2013 around 5 p.m. at his home in Granbury. Service: 2 p.m. Monday at Lakeside Baptist Church in Granbury. Graveside service: 10 a.m. Tuesday in Turkey Cemetery in Turkey. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Granbury’s Grace Hospice, 4100 International Plaza, #140, Fort Worth, TX 76109 or Turkey Cemetery Association, 914 Estelline Ave., Turkey, TX 79261.
Jerry Don was born May 4, 1936 in Turkey where he graduated from high school and went on to earn a Bachelor and Master’s degree in Education from Texas Tech University in Lubbock. He was honored as the top administrator of the State of Texas in 1977 and gave his life serving his family, community and church. He was preceded in death by his parents, William “Bill” Wallace and Mary Faye Fuston George.
Survivors: Wife of 54 years, Donna Sue Lacy George; son, Mitchell Don and wife, Regina George of Glen Rose and their children, Caidon Breanne, Carolin Suzanne, Curstin Leanne and Colton Bratcher George; daughter, Monica Lynn Matthews and husband, Curtis of Grand Prairie and their children, Lauren Lacy Musser, Augustus Charles and Ethan Lane Matthews; son, Steven Wallace and wife, Rachel George of Houston and their children, Madison Diane and Jacob Alex George; brother, Ronald Fuston George of Tulia.
