Joe H. Edwards, 74, after suffering from Parkinson’s disease for six years, is free at last. On Friday, January 18, 2013, the Lord reached down and gathered Joe to His bosom. No longer able to walk or speak, Joe is now walking the streets of gold and singing in the heavenly choir.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bethesda Community Church. Interment will be at 3 p.m. in Highland Cemetery in Deport. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Biggers Funeral Home.
Joe was born to Joe Howard Edwards and Mamie King Edwards on May 15, 1938. He had three brothers, Ray, Harold, and Lavon, all of whom passed away before him.
Joe served his country in three tours of duty, one in the Air Force and two in the Army. During these years he was stationed in Texas, Alaska, and Japan.
For 35 years, Joe worked at Bell Helicopter Textron as a production control specialist. He was a member of UAW Local 317. Joe loved his years at Bell and continued to participate in retiree events for many years.
Joe leaves behind his wife, Shirley Edwards of Fort Worth; his daughter, Jackie Jo Edwards of Lewisville; his granddaughter, Amanda Beauchamp of Lewisville; his stepdaughter, Sherill Hensley of Fort Worth; and his stepson, Steven Sitz of Liberal, Kansas. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Earlene Edwards of Paris; nephews, Ricky Edwards and Robert Edwards of Paris, and Tim Edwards of Fort Worth; a niece, Becky Lester of Mesquite; and numerous other relatives and friends.
