John was born in Ashland, WI on September 12, 1935 to mother Velma Malmberg. John was raised in Lindstrom, MN by his mother and Grandfather Malmberg until Charles Sundberg and Velma married. John married his high school sweetheart, Jean Olson at the Center City, MN Lutheran Church on March 30, 1955. John served in the Navy as a seaman and was fortunate to be stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii which he really enjoyed. John worked and traveled as a truck driver until the family moved to Texas in 1976. John eventually opened a diesel parts distribution and repair business in Granbury, which he and Jean operated for several years prior to retiring.
John was preceded in death by his parents Velma and Charles, and his son Dean.
Survivors: Wife Jean of 60 years, daughters Lori Williams, Sue Cantu and husband Dayne; half sisters Rita Amos and Kay Backer. Grand children, Nicole, Shadell, Erin, Cassie, Jason, Daphne, David and April and 18 great grandchildren.
John also leaves behind numerous friends in Texas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and all over the country. He never met a stranger and always had plenty of stories to tell or jokes to pass on.
