John Marshall Burks, 62, of Granbury, Texas passed away on March 18, 2017, in Fort Worth.

John was born on September 6, 1954 in Evanston, Illinois to Marion and Dorothea Sowers Burks. John met Monica Miletic at his cousin’s wedding in September 1980. It was love at first sight. They were married in September 1982 and had three sons. John worked his entire career in healthcare and created his own business: Burks Health Care Concepts. He loved being around people, sharing stories and adventures. He was an Eagle Scout and a devoted Scout leader, providing guidance to countless young men. John loved the outdoors and building campfires in the north woods in Wisconsin and being on the water boating. He moved to Granbury in 2011 and became an active member of the First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed doing projects around the house. John was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Deborah and Marion D. and his aunts Margie, Jo and Mimi.
He is survived by wife, Monica Burks, sons: Douglas Burks and wife, Brigitte; Timothy Burks and Phillip Burks; grandchildren: Eli and Evie; uncles: Dave and Tommy Sowers.
