John Richard Williamson was born on August 2, 1947, to Dan and Evelyn (Olson) Williamson in Concordia, Kansas. John passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family who loved him dearly, in Fort Worth, Texas on February 24, 2022.
Memorial service is planned for May 28, 2022 in Glasco, Kansas
John grew up on a farm northwest of Glasco, Kansas and he graduated from Glasco High School in 1965. John attended Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS. He began his AT&T career in January 1969 covering the Western states, first as a lineman and later in a supervisory position. John’s work with AT&T took him to all 50 states. After he retired in 2003, he settled into his ranch in Kersey, Colorado where he enjoyed his horses, dogs and spending vacations traveling with his siblings on various camping/fishing trips all over the country.
John lived a life full of fun, friends and family. Everyone who knew John, knew that he loved his family with great devotion, and would always be ready and willing to lend a helping hand with a smile.
He is survived by his son, Joseph Canfield, daughter-in-law Anita, four grandchildren: Abigail Harder (Abraham), Alyssa Canfield, Benjamin Canfield and Ella Canfield, 2 great-grandchildren: Penelope “Peachy” and Merrick “Bubba” Harder, all of Fort Worth, Texas; brothers, Rob (Loralei) Caldwell, ID; Kevin, Glasco, KS; Ben, Leesburg, FL; sisters, Mary Williamson-Lavy, Glasco, KS; Nancy Briggs, Parsons, KS; Barbara (Jerry) Holste, Manhattan, KS; Jean, (Bert) Hogan, Leesburg, FL; Joyce (John) Hood, Concordia, KS; Linda (Chad) Meriden, KS; brother-in-law, David LaBarge; sisters-in-law, Nancy and Mary; Aunt Martha Ann Olson, Manhattan; many nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Guy, Mike, David, Ken, Joe, and two infant brothers, James Daniel and Timothy; sisters, Karen LaBarge and Kathleen Morse.
