GRANBURY — John W. Gibbs, 79, passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, in Fort Worth.
Funeral: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Granbury First Baptist Church. Burial: Holly Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wiley Funeral Home.
Memorials: Kidney Foundation or First Baptist Church Building Fund.
John was born Aug. 16, 1933, in Pittsburg, Okla., to Vernon D. and Jean Gibbs. He married Peggy McEachern Garrett, July 11, 1975, in Seminole, Texas. He was a member of Granbury First Baptist Church. In his younger years, John enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling. He was a golden gloves boxer and loved watching boxing on TV. After retirement he enjoyed woodworking in his shop.
John was the co-founder of G&G Electric in 1986 and served on the Granbury Electrical Board. He adored his family and was devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean & Vernon Gibbs; brothers, Bob Gibbs and Dale Gibbs; baby daughter, Barbara Ann Gibbs; son, Alan Garrett; granddaughter, Miranda Garrett.
Survivors: Wife, Peggy “PJ” Gibbs; sister, Beverly Chester; children, Bobby Dale Gibbs, Gwen Garrett, Jane Gibbs Anderson and husband, Brent, Danny Garrett and wife, Diane; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
