Johnny was a talented Singer and Entertainer. I recall when I first heard him on the radio many years ago when he first started out and was amazed at his talent. My husband Tommy and I were shocked and saddened to hear about the accident that took John's life. When John started working for the railroad, out of Cleburne, he and Tommy became friends. Their interest in flying made their friendship even stronger. The world lost a very special man when we lost John.

Kid and Mary Margaret Marley are my in-laws (I married Joe Marley). Mary Margaret thought of Johnny like a son. He sang "Red River Valley" and "When the Work's All Done" at Kid Marley's funeral in Justiceburg, Texas on the Miller Ranch. I also remember him singing "Amazing Grace" at the Justiceburg Baptist Church in 1980. What a voice! And what a friend!

I remember when Johnny shot himself in the leg trying to quick draw. I was so scared, when he won the Georgia Jubilee I was so proud. Johnny was amazing.
