Jonathan Earl Searfoss, 78, passed away on April 11, 2023 at his home in Azle, Texas.

Jon was born on July 3, 1944 in Renovo, Pennsylvania, to David and Loraine Searfoss.
He grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota and attended the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in history. After college, Jon served as an officer in the Air Force. During his time in the Air Force, he was stationed in San Antonio, Little Rock, Taiwan, Houston, Germany, and Denver. While in Germany, Jon earned a master’s degree in counseling from Ball State University. After being honorably discharged from military service, Jon worked in labor relations for the federal government in Colorado.
Jon and his wife Karen enjoyed many wonderful trips during their retirement, including travel to New Zealand, Israel, Norway, Sweden, Alaska, and a train ride across Canada, but Jon’s favorite trip was always to Lyman Lake in Wisconsin where he loved to fish for muskie.
As the son of a Presbyterian minister, Jon had a strong Christian faith since childhood. He served as deacon and elder at Faith Presbyterian Church in Aurora, Colorado, and taught Sunday School at First United Methodist Church in Azle, Texas for many years. Jon’s funeral service will be held at the Presbyterian church that his father pastored when Jon was a little boy.
Jon is preceded in death by his parents, David and Loraine, his brother, David Searfoss, and his sister Lois Vessey.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Karen; his children, Lisa Theisen and her husband, Wil Theisen, Mark Searfoss and his wife, Nicole Searfoss, and Susan Hobbs and her husband, Zachary Hobbs; grandchildren, Julia Ricks and her husband, Austin Ricks, Benjamin Theisen, Simon Theisen, James Searfoss, Samantha Searfoss, Andrew Hobbs, and Katherine Hobbs; great-grandson, Elliott Ricks; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
