Joseph “Joe” Michael Churchman

Joseph Michael Churchman passed away June 17, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born October 25, 1939 to Joseph Benjamin Churchman and Jewel Ruth Gill in Dallas. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1957 and North Texas State University in 1961 with a BA in Business.

In April of 1961, he married Mary Elizabeth Hearn in Dallas and they were married for 55 years. They have two sons, Edmond Joseph Churchman of Granbury and David Shawn Churchman of Oklahoma City.

In his early career Joe was a salesman for Ryerson and Co; and Swest, a commercial jewelry manufacturer. In 1985 Joe followed his true passion, jewelry making. He opened the Dallas Jewelry Institute and then partnering with Mary, the Wild River Jewelry Company in South Fork, CO in 1993. Joe was also an avid fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman.

In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by a granddaughter and grandson, Haleigh Lanae Churchman and Brandon Moore; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Clanton Churchman; son-in-law, Dr. Tom Spector; and great grandson, Jameson Moore.

There will be a Celebration of Life next Saturday June 25th @ 11 AM at the Stonewater Church in Granbury.
